Topping Out Ceremony for Science Building Phase 2
EKU students, faculty, and staff gather at the site of the New Science Building Phase 2 for the Topping Out Ceremony on August 31, 2015. Through the week, members of the EKU community were invited to come and sign a beam that was placed at the top of the New Science Building Phase 2 during the ceremony.
President Benson and Dr. John Wade, Dean of EKU College of Arts and Sciences, speak at the ceremony about the impact this building will have on the Campus Community. “One out of every ten credit hours at Eastern Kentucky University will be generated by the core departments of Arts and Sciences that will be in this building” says Dr. Wade. Phase 1 of the New Science Building holds the Physics, Astronomy, and Chemistry departments, and Phase 2 will become the new home for Biological Sciences and the Department of GeoSciences. Construction for Phase 2 is expected to be completed in late 2017. A video of the Topping Out Ceremony can be found at this link.
